Bet this is going to make many of you jealous but I can't help but show you a sample of where we have booked to stay.........why we're so excited - see the link below
In the early 80s, at the time I got married, I worked for the Provincial Warden at the Department of National Parks and Wildlife, Victoria Falls. I was the clerk doing all the admin - mainly CITES permits for the hunting trophies. I used an ancient old typewriter and roneo machine. We had a radio for communication and I was also the switchboard telephone operator - another ancient piece of equipment which was top of the range when telephones arrived at The Falls in 1947!
The office was always lively revolving around my boss, Paul Read who was, he wouldn't have minded me saying, fairly eccentric! When he got bored or felt like a bit of fresh air he'd wave goodbye to Katrina and I and then get on his moped and ride around the circular flower bed in front of the building. A couple of minutes later he'd be back behind his desk. The rangers, ecologist and warden and other Parks staff were always in and out to see him, us, to use the radio, drop off paperwork or request permits. One of these was Steve Edwards. After leaving Parks he went and set up his own safari camp along with his wife, Wendy. Today it is one of Zimbabwe's top camps and that is where we are heading...........
Musango Safari Camp, Bumi Hills, Lake Kariba
It's going to be amazing to be back in the bush on the Zambezi, surrounded by game with people who have so much passion and wealth of knowledge. The cold beer will go down well too. We're only visiting at the hottest time of the year, after all!
What a wonderful place - Feeling very envious
